Emily Crocker - New Choral Music for 2024

Image
Thank you for visiting this page. In terms of composing and arranging, I’ve had an interesting and rewarding year. Perhaps I have finally acclimated to this stage of life, post-9-to-5 and post choir directing, or maybe I’ve just allowed myself to explore what was always waiting for me. My WHAT'S NEW  page lists everything that is new so feel free to poke about there, but I thought I would put down some thoughts regarding the new directions you may see among these new releases. HAL LEONARD After spending 28 years at the Mother Ship in Milwaukee, I wanted to start with my new Hal Leonard titles. We’re all super excited that Hal Leonard  and Musescore  have joined together for even more distribution opportunities. If you are a Musescore subscriber (and you should be), you’ll already find these titles published there officially and legally for downloading, printing and sharing. These are also available through your favorite traditional retailers as well.  Au Pas, Camarades (Song of the

I know lots of you like to plan your concerts over the summer so I hope these new choral works will be of interest. Thanks to the editors, producers, musicians and others who have brought these pieces into physical and digital form!  All print, digital and audio are now available. For these and other titles, visit  Emily Crocker Music J'ai vu le loup This fast-paced French folk song dates back to the medieval era. Many versions of the song exist, and they all feature animals imitating humans by dancing, laughing, and singing. Similar to J'entends le moulin, the persistent rhythm and engaging vocal lines make this an ideal choice for developing diction, precision, and tone in younger singers while exposing them to the French language. 3-Part Mixed and Piano:  More info/purchase 2-Part and piano:  More info/purchase Fire and Ice This poem by Robert Frost reflects on the end of the world, musing whether it might be consumed in fire or ice, and comparing the two elements with the e

TWO SONGS OF LONGING (SSA/Crocker)

I'm pleased to announced that "Two Songs of Longing" for SSA a cappella, including "Ah, Dear Heart" with a text by John Donne and "Longing" with a text by Matthew Arnold are now both available as digital singles. These pieces, both on Grade 3 of the PML have been popular choices, but the octavo is out of print and the music is somewhat difficult to obtain, unless you have the old Essential Repertoire anthologies from the 1990s. Each title has been newly engraved and I have created a video score for those who are unfamiliar with the pieces. Interesting backstory...I was prompted to republish these pieces by an email I recently received from a young woman from France, now studying to become a doctor, who had been an exchange student in Texas. She sang in choir and had great memories of her experience. She writes: "I was an exchange student in a little city of Texas in 2011.  Back then I was part of a full-female choir : it was an amazing experienc
