Music for Young Mixed Choirs
New for Fall 2020
These new pieces will work well for young mixed choirs in middle and high school. The bass clef part(s) are very flexible, so if you have SAB or SATB, these should help your ensemble sound great. Ranges are moderate and there is little if any divisi.
I know there are lots of different paths for instruction in the fall of 2020, but whether you are physically together and socially distant or if you are working in a virtual environment, I hope you will consider these pieces for SAB and SATB singers.
All are available in print and digital editions also with demo and accompaniment audio downloads. J'entends le Moulin also has Part Predominant tracks available for audio download providing excellent rehearsal tools for in-person or distance learning.
Young singers like to be challenged and I hope these pieces will fit their voices and provide a creative challenge that will enliven the learning going on in your classrooms!

J'entends le moulin - SA(T)B with piano
Now available in SA(T)B voicing. Hear the steady ticka-tacka of the mill wheel in this brisk setting of a French Canadian folksong. Immensely fun to sing and easily learned. Includes pronunciation guide.
Who Is There Like Me - SSAB
Written for the 25th anniversary of the Milwaukee Children's Choir. The text, based on an old Winnebago saying, reminds us of the unique individuality and promise that each child carries. It's upbeat, melodious, and a joy to sing, with optional percussion parts also available. There is an optional lower part for choirs that wish to sing SSATB, this makes a great piece to combine treble and mixed choirs for a festival finale.
Courage Calls to Courage - SA(T)B
2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which granted a woman's right to vote. The lyrics for this piece are based on the writings and speeches of several important women's leaders who helped make this a reality. The music is sturdy and strong and represents those women whose words inform this story. The recording you hear is women's voices, but the score in the video is SAB, with an optional tenor part.

Joy in the Morning - SAB
One of my favorite Christmas pieces is "Christmas Dance of the Shepherds" by Zoltan Kodaly, primarily because of the piccolo obbligato. So, I was inspired to try my hand at writing for piccolo with this wintry setting of a text from the children's book The Wind in the Willows. The piccolo is optional but adds a lot to the merriment.
